Disability Access Policy

St Lawrence Surgery ensure they meet the needs of all their patients and/or carers if they have any information or communication needs.

Your needs (if any) will be recorded on your medical record and shared with other NHS and social care providers, when you have given consent or permission to do so.

We need to ensure that our patients get information in an accessible way and we provide communication support if you need it.  So, please do let us know as soon as possible if you have any requirements.

The practice recognises that our patients may have diverse communication styles and needs. In line with accessibility standards we have a wide range of facilities to accommodate this diversity, such as a hearing aid T-loop, interpreter service, large print practice booklets, lowered reception desks and support for children with additional needs and their families. We have a disabled toilet and baby change facilities.

Please let us know how we can communicate with you better if you have any specific needs.

Wheelchair Access

  • We offer wheelchairs that patients can use whilst at the surgery and our premises are wheelchair-friendly.
  • We have a wheelchair-friendly desk.
  • We have a large lift if you need to see a member of our staff on the first floor.

Parking

There is a Patient Car Park to the south of the surgery and plenty of on street parking in the surrounding area. We do however ask our patients to park responsibly and respect our neighbours.

Disabled Parking - Blue Badge Scheme

The Blue Badge Scheme is for people with severe mobility problems. It allows Blue Badge holders to park close to where they need to go.

For more information and an Application Form visit your local council office.

Loop System

There is a Hearing Loop in reception for use by people with hearing aids and the building has been designed and decorated to make it easier for people with visual problems.

Blind/Partially Sighted

Do you have impaired vision or sight loss?

Please ask us for larger prints of our self care leaflets or practice booklet or we can arrange Braille if this is your preference. Please just let us know which format you would like us to use to communicate best with you.

Interpreter Service

An Interpreter/Translator service is available for all out patients. More details can be found by clicking on the link.

Guide Dogs

Guide dogs are welcome at the Practice but we ask that you be aware of other patients and staff who may have an allergy or fear of dogs.
